Custer Co. Awards Funds to Repair Damaged Roads

May 19, 2022 Custer County officials received a large settlement for road damages that occurred during the construction of a wind farm in the county. During the latest meeting of Custer County Commissioners on Monday, it was announced that the county received a payment for nearly $4.5 million that will be used for repairs. District 2 will see a majority of the funds with $3.3 million of the settlement being used to repair 36 miles of roads in that district alone. The agreement, between the Commissioners, Southwestern Electric Power Company, PSO, and Traverse Wind Energy LLC, came after the construction of the Traverse Wind Farm that damaged roads during its construction process.
