OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) - Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced the launch of an initiative taking aim at homeless encampments on state-owned property in Tulsa.
It’s called Operation SAFE (Swift Action for Families Everywhere) and gives the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the authority to target encampments on underpasses, highways, or other state-controlled land.
Under the initiative, OHP has been issuing warnings to homeless individuals, while the Transportation Department has been posting notices at encampments warning people to leave those areas.
