TULSA, Okla. — Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law that is intended to help improve road and bridge safety throughout Oklahoma’s counties.
House Bill 2758, authored by Representative Trey Caldwell and Senator John Haste, helps counties better their roads, repair bridges and improve public services.
The bill led to the creation of the Preserving and Advancing County Transportation Fund (PACT Fund), which helps to create and maintain the county highway system by lowering the percentage of the current gross production tax on natural gas deposited into Oklahoma’s general revenue fund and gives that money to the PACT Fund.
“The governor’s signing of House Bill 2758 represents a significant milestone in enhancing the safety of our communities and strengthening the infrastructure that drives Oklahoma forward,” said Tulsa County District 2 Commissioner Lonnie Sims. “Tulsa county has some of the most deficient bridges in the state and this recurring funding will accelerate their repair and replacement while ensuring continued investment to build a more resilient transportation network for the future.”
