I-40 pothole causes traffic delays, vehicle damage Tuesday

A large pothole caused traffic to back up for miles Tuesday morning on westbound Interstate-40 near Calumet KOCO

By Kilee Thomas December 13, 2022 CALUMET, Okla. —A large pothole caused traffic to back up for miles Tuesday morning on westbound Interstate-40 near Calumet. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said heavy rain caused the broken pavement, which damaged multiple cars before crews were able to fix the roadway. Traffic was at a crawl for more than six hours as officials scrambled to fix the 20-foot gash. “It was an unexpected, emergency repair we had to make this morning,” said Lisa Shearer-Salim with ODOT. Sky 5 flew over the bumper-to-bumper traffic near mile marker 113.
