Kaw Dam bridge repairs planned after contract awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a construction contract to repair deteriorated bridge girders near Ponca City.

PONCA CITY, Okla. -The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District has awarded a construction contract to repair the bridge over Kaw Dam near Ponca City, Oklahoma.

The Tennessee Valley Authority will begin repairs after construction materials are delivered. The materials are expected to arrive in mid-August.

The bridge was closed Nov. 7, 2025, after maintenance workers found advanced deterioration of bridge bearings during routine repairs.
