Lawton City Council to address homelessness, stormwater fees and road projects

Mayor cites public safety concerns over encampment flooding as council considers camping exemption changes

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The Lawton City Council will tackle several issues at tonight’s meeting that could impact everything from homelessness policy to stormwater fees and major road projects.

Council will discuss the future of a Lawton Unhoused Trust Authority property near Southwest E Avenue where camping is currently allowed. Officials have raised concerns about the site’s location near a floodplain and are considering code changes that could remove an exemption allowing camping on the property.
