May Avenue bridge demolition begins in OKC; drivers should expect delays, detours

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City is now preparing for the demolition of the May Avenue bridge spanning Northwest Expressway. Drivers in northwest Oklahoma City should expect delays and detours as crews begin dismantling bridge as part of a major intersection improvement project.

In a news conference on Thursday, Oklahoma City Public Works Senior Project Manager Ryan Concha said crews are taking a methodical approach to removing the bridge, with demolition beginning this weekend and continuing over the coming weeks.
