County officials from Oklahoma and across the nation were in Washington, D.C., this week to discuss the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill, the federal measure that funds road and bridge construction, and they’re hoping to secure a larger share of that funding.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- County officials from Oklahoma and across the nation were in Washington, D.C., this week to discuss the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill, the federal measure that funds road and bridge construction, and they’re hoping to secure a larger share of that funding.
The current Surface Transportation Authorization, part of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, doesn’t expire for another year. But for local leaders who depend on that funding, they say now is the time to “hit the gas.”
“This meeting was critical to get here at the starting line,” said Rogers County Commissioner Ron Burrows.
