Road construction picks up across Oklahoma City metro as summer projects expand

While ODOT has 17 projects underway, additional city construction means motorists will encounter even more work zones throughout the Oklahoma City metro.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Get ready for a bumpy ride; the Oklahoma Department of Transportation currently has 17 road construction projects ongoing across the Oklahoma City metro this summer.

With warmer weather creating a key window for repairs, ODOT spokesperson Emily Long says crews are focused on improving aging infrastructure while keeping one of the nation’s busiest transportation corridors safe and reliable.

“Oklahoma’s also the crossroads of America, and so during the summertime, we have lots of travel through the state,” Long said. “We also have lots of freight that goes through the state all year long. Because of that, where we are in the nation, we want to make sure that the roadways and bridges and everything that ODOT manages are safe [and] reliable.” View the full article: News9.com
