A Bridge to the Past in Kay County

KAW LAKE, Okla. (KFOR) — Not far from the wandering banks of the Arkansas River, history speaks of old highways, forgotten towns, and even Native American trade routes.

Much of it now lies beneath the headwaters of Kaw Lake.

Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Game Warden Spencer Grace faces a busy time of year in mid-January.

He’s on constant lookout for illegal hunting or fishing inside this huge wildlife management area, including one spot just a few miles east of Newkirk, OK.
