It looked like an ordinary December afternoon on the turnpike.

A semi truck ran northeast out of Tulsa, keeping pace with traffic, and nobody watching it pass had any reason to worry.

On its trailer sat the concrete base of a utility pole, and the load rode higher than the law allows.

Then the roof of that load met the first bridge, and one of the strangest road incidents of the year was already underway.
