ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Ardmore is laying the groundwork for an Oklahoma Department of Transportation $30 million Highway 70 widening project, starting underground.
The city commission approved a deal with ODOT to relocate water lines along U.S. 70, clearing the way for ODOT to replace it with a new four-lane divided highway. But before construction can start, those water lines have to move.
“When they widen the highway, we’re going to have to move our water lines on farther out away from the highway,” said Blake Rudd, Ardmore assistant utilities director.
The relocation runs from Fox Den Road to I-35, carrying a $2.4 million price tag. But Ardmore won’t foot the entire bill.
