Bridge work faces more delays

OK Energy Today May 3, 2026

Unexpected discovery of more problems to a U.S. Highway 75 bridge near Jenks results in another construction delay encountered by motorists.

The bridge over Polecat Creek carries an estimated 59,000 vehicles a day but the Oklahoma Department of Transportation recently found more deterioration when crews removed the bridge deck.

Fox 25 News reports it means ODOT had to do a redesign and a pause as new construction materials were on order.

“When the bridge deck was removed crews and engineers discovered some of the steel was a little bit more deteriorated than we had thought. We had to redesign some additional plans, the contractor needed to order parts for those changes, so far for the delay that we’ve had this time around, we’re about two or three weeks,” ODOT said in a statement to the TV news department.
