The City Council will look at action today that willv help launch two new construction projects: a contract to rebuild two bridges on South 11th Street and action that will allow it to take property for the U.S. 62/Goodyear Boulevard bypass.
City engineers are recommending the council award the South 11th Street bridge project to Sewell Brothers of Oklahoma City, for $2,603,588.47. The project will rebuild two deteriorating bridges that cross Wolf Creek on South 11th Street, between the Interstate 44 access ramps and the entrance to the city landfill. The bridges were closed to all traffic March 31, after being restricted to vehicles weighing less than 13 tons three years ago because of their deteriorating condition. City officials said when they closed the bridges earlier this spring, they would not reopen the road until the new bridges are completed.
