Construction to begin at Terminal Drive & Amelia Earhart intersection
The City of Oklahoma City Press Release October 29, 2026
Airport officials are advising motorists and residents to prepare for significant traffic changes starting tomorrow morning, Friday, October 30, at the intersection of Terminal Drive and Amelia Earhart Lane.
This work marks the official start of Phase 1 for the Cleared for Takeoff Terminal Expansion project, which was rolled out on October 13, 2026.
Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead.
Terminal Drive will be reduced to a single lane in both the northbound and southbound directions near the Amelia Earhart intersection leading to and away from the terminal building.
A dedicated detour for Economy Parking will be implemented via SW 54th Street to Air Cargo Road.
Traffic patterns, lane closures, and detours will shift throughout the life of the project to accommodate different construction phases.
Motorists are urged to slow down, look out for construction workers, and follow all detour signage. Plan to arrive at least two hours before you board your flight, as traffic may back up on terminal drive during peak travel times.
