Debate on proposed pay-per-mile tax: a threat to privacy, says Oklahoma rep.

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A debate is ongoing in legislation over the new pay-per-mile tax proposal as Representative Tom Gann files House Bill 2970 to halt any future advancement of the Road User Charge Initiative.

The Road User Charge Proposal is looking into taxing Oklahomans on the miles they drive rather than each gallon of gas when filling up.

Gann says that he believes that the proposed plan's monitoring of the miles that Oklahomans drive could lead to excessive government control over personal travel.
