The City of Lawton is about to take citizens for a ride – a smoother ride that is. Action taken last week by the City Council will move several streets projects along.
One of those is a joint project with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation that has been on the drawing board for more than two decades. It involves turning the last mile of West Gore between Northwest 67th Street and Northwest 82nd Street into five lanes.
We are sure many city residents thought they would never see the project begun. The project was delayed due to relocation of utilities; it took AT&T about two years to relocate its lines after the other utility work had been completed.
