The City of Edmond is calling on the community for input to shape the future of two key corridors — 2nd & Broadway — by conducting a comprehensive study. Announced in a recent notice, the City states that public feedback will complement an ongoing operational analysis aimed at overhauling the current infrastructure and traffic conditions of the bustling thoroughfares.
Scheduled for completion in early 2026, the 2nd & Broadway Corridors Project aims to transition traffic safely from interstate highways to downtown Edmond while accommodating various transportation modes. As reported on the City's website, "This study will create a detailed roadmap for the future development and improvement of the area and its surrounding environment," said Edmond Mayor, Mark A. Nash. A two-day workshop with state and local leaders in late June will kickstart the process, which seeks to reinvent the corridor identity and enhance multimodal transportation options.
The comprehensive review will cover various aspects including current and projected traffic data, crash data, infrastructure plans, and more. Additionally, insight on local demographics, regional context, and economic trends will back the development of the assessment maps, guiding the physical framework for prospective corridor improvements. An emphasis will be placed on amplifying the realms of pedestrian experience and traffic control.
