El Reno hoping for big things with newly refurbished Rock Island Bridge

EL RENO, Okla. — El Reno is expanding the city with the opening of a new bridge on Highway 81.

But it’s not just any bridge. The city’s mayor is excited about it and what it means for the city.

Canadian County continues to be the fastest-growing county in Oklahoma. El Reno hopes to continue this trend with the opening of the Rock Island Bridge. The bridge was first built 75 years ago this week.

But it now has a completely different look.

“You’re looking at a new bridge with an art deco style, with the latest Lumiere lights for safety. This is a great partnership with the city of El Reno and ODOT (the Oklahoma Department of Transportation),” El Reno Mayor Matt White said.
