Federal funding deadline hangs over major Oklahoma County construction projects

Two prominent Oklahoma County construction projects face a year-end deadline for using federal pandemic funding that looms large at one site because of the usual weather delays and at the other because of unusual complications.

Breaking the deadline would cost the county, and taxpayers, millions of dollars set aside to partially pay for a new jail − a portion of the as-yet unspent proceeds of a $260 million, voter-approved bond issue in 2022. So officials are monitoring both projects closely.
