Going to Oklahoma State football opener? ODOT seeks patience with Highway 51 construction

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has a plan for Oklahoma State football gamedays with hopes of easing the traffic increase in the construction area on Highway 51 between Interstate 35 and Stillwater.

The project includes a bridge reconstruction impacting eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 51 between Vassor Road and Meridian Road. The current configuration has one lane traveling in each direction for roughly a mile and is not expected to be completed until 2024.

For OSU’s home football weekends, ODOT will provide a second lane for fans trying to get to Stillwater, beginning this weekend with the Cowboys set to host Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. Saturday.
