My previous duty as an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority board member included monitoring property purchases for two of the largest new road alignments in many decades: the Kilpatrick Extension and the Eastern Oklahoma Connector (renamed the Kickapoo). From the time of announcement on Oct. 29, 2015, until my board tenure ended in 2018, I oversaw transportation staff’s right-of-way purchases for about 28 miles of new road alignments. Newly released Oklahoma Turnpike Authority data shows $84 million in turnpike land purchases (390 tracts) for the recently built turnpikes.
