Lincoln County rejects commissioner’s proposed $275K road project on street he lives on

CHANDLER, Okla. — Lincoln County commissioners rejected a $275,000 request to pave a half-mile, dead-end road where the commissioner behind the proposal lives.

District 3 Commissioner Lee Doolen said the project would fulfill a promise to neighbors, while residents questioned whether taxpayer money should fund the project before other county roads and bridges are repaired.

Residents packed a special meeting on Wednesday to question whether the road should take priority over other county road and bridge needs. Others said the road creates a safety concern because school buses cannot travel it.

“Most of the roads are gravel, and then when it does rain, some of them are impassable,” said Tonya Jackson, a District 3 resident.
