TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Drivers in south Tulsa could face months of major traffic disruptions as Tulsa County prepares to raise the intersection of 101st Street and Garnett Road to address long-standing flooding problems.

An informational meeting was held last night to show residents the plans for work near 91st Street, 101st Street and Garnett Road, where neighbors raised concerns about what the construction could mean for traffic in one of the area’s busiest corridors.

The project calls for raising the 101st and Garnett intersection by about five feet to move it out of a flood-prone area. It is part of a $12 million project supported in part by an $8 million FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant. The work also includes reconstructing Garnett Road between 91st Street and 101st Street.
