Metro Tech launches new CDL training amid national truck driver shortage

Oklahoma City (KOKH) — Metro Tech is now offering training for people who want to get their commercial drivers license (CDL).

"Right now, we see the demand in the transportation area, we see the demand for truck drivers. Currently, there's over 70,000 truck driving positions that are open," saidCody McPherson, Workforce Development Coordinator for Metro Tech.

The demand being much higher than the current supply of truck drivers is a big reason why McPherson said Metro Tech is now offering a new training program to get prospective truckers CDL certified.

McPherson told FOX 25 it was crucial that Metro Tech launched this program, as a means to pave the way for the next generation of truck drivers.
