Highway departments are turning to comprehensive commercial vehicle screening tech to aid in the compliance and safety of big-rig traffic as the movement of freight continues to grow.

Big-rig trucks are increasingly not exiting for weigh stations along interstates and other corridors. They are driving past, not to flout rules, but because they have already been screened at highway speeds.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and its partners are deploying new technology to screen commercial vehicles along Interstate 35 to evaluate heavy-duty freight carriers for weight, tire safety, and other compliancy areas as they move down the highway. The system identifies those trucks in need of a closer inspection to exit at weigh stations.
