Newly built pedestrian bridge in Oklahoma City could soon go back under construction


Back in June, KOCO 5 reported on the new pedestrian bridge linking the Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser trails. KOCO By Meghan Mosley July 19, 2023 OKLAHOMA CITY —A newly built pedestrian bridge in Oklahoma City could soon go back under construction. The city said after a post-construction inspection, the pedestrian bridge linking Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser Trails was found not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Back in June, KOCO 5 reported on the new pedestrian bridge linking the Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser trails. On Wednesday, the city said post-construction of the walkway found a section of the bridge to be out of ADA compliance. "The best rule is to fix what’s broken. Make it right," Brenda Hoefar, interim director for the Office of Disability Concerns, said. The city said the slope is too steep.
