ODOT proceeds with Roosevelt Bridge project

Durant Democrat

By Rep. Cody Maynard  April 29, 2024

I am pleased to announce that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has decided to proceed with the Roosevelt Bridge Project and has selected a construction plan. The project aims to build a new multimodal bridge south of the existing bridge over Lake Texoma. The Roosevelt Bridge was initially put into service in 1945 and has served our area well since then. Now, it faces critical safety concerns and is not adequately meeting the future traffic demands of our region.

The bridge is designed to have four lanes of traffic, 10-foot-wide shoulders on each side, and a median barrier to separate the travel directions. It will also be equipped with lighting fixtures to improve visibility and safety at night. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is seeking an interested party to adopt and maintain the existing Roosevelt Bridge and leave it as either a pedestrian/ bicycle facility or a monument.
