Oklahoma City plans to narrow Classen to add more bike lanes

OKLAHOMA CITY — A busy Oklahoma City street will soon see big changes that would make way for more bicyclists and cars.

Oklahomans who drive or bike on the six lanes of Classen Boulevard between 10th and 16th streets know how busy the area can get. The city has been working to make the city safer for bikes and pedestrians, and officials hope a new project would do just that.

“That part of the road, especially during peak traffic hours like 4 o’clock, lunch, early in the morning, it’s very heavily trafficked," said bicyclist Alan Hickerson. "Even just for cars, it’s hard to get through."
