Oklahoma City's preparations helped ease travel amid Thursday's winter weather

Oklahoma City's Department of Public Works prepared roads with salt and brine ahead of a brief snowfall to ensure safe travel for commuters.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City's Department of Public Works prepared the roads with salt and brine in advance of a brief snowfall on Thursday morning to ensure safe travel for metro drivers.

Public works trucks were active on the city's streets, focusing on snow routes, bridges and overpasses.

"We've been prepping for the last 48 hours. Trucks have been out on the snow routes, taking care of especially bridges and overpasses," Shannon Cox, public information officer for the Oklahoma City Department of Public Works, said.
