Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are warning Oklahomans about a texting scam claiming they were ticketed and owe money.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are warning Oklahomans about a texting scam claiming they were ticketed and owe money.

OHP officials said they have received numerous calls about the scam, which is designed to look as if it is coming from the Oklahoma Department of Safety. Messages typically state that a person owes money for a ticket and a link is provided to pay.
