GLENPOOL, Okla. — A bill named in honor of nine-year-old Talyn Bain, a boy killed in a Glenpool car crash last year, is one step closer to becoming law.
The bill passed unanimously out of the Oklahoma House Tuesday morning. If it becomes law, the bill would expand school zones to nearby highways.
House Bill 2979, known as the Talyn Bain Act, would require the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to establish 45-mile-per-hour school zones on certain highways located near schools.
The legislation is named after the nine-year-old who was killed in a multi-car crash on 151st Street South in Glenpool last September.
