TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Oklahoma Department of Transportation Commission approved $13.7 million in funding for hundreds of bridges across the state that are considered structurally deficient.

ODOT says the repairs are happening with funds courtesy of the federal government.

"Of the 1700 off-system bridges that are SD 600, the SD Bridges had a form of scour as one of the bridge deficiencies," said Matt Mitchell, the Local Government Division Engineer for ODOT.

Matt Mitchell with ODOT says that after completing field assessments at each of the 600 structurally deficient bridges, they determined that 428 of those bridges qualified for the Scour Mitigation Program.
