TULSA, OKLA (KTUL) — As spring and summer mark the peak seasons for road construction, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is intensifying efforts to raise awareness about work zone safety.
A new report reveals that 60% of highway construction firms experienced at least one vehicle crashing into their work zones in the past year.
Bryce Boyer, ODOT's Public Information Manager, said, "We're gonna have about 100 work zones statewide throughout the spring and summer months. So we just want to make sure drivers are using the month of April and May, and as we get into summer travel, to build those good habits to last all year long. So they get to make it home safe. All of our workers get to make it home safe, because at the end of the day, that's our goal."
