ROAD WORK AHEAD: Downing Street intersection construction nearing completion

Road work is entering the final stages at the intersection of Bertha Parker Bypass and Downing Street, and the city is putting the final touches on crossing signals at Downing Street and North Cedar Avenue and Water Avenue.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation is close to completing the last details of the sidewalk installation and driveways along these streets.

Stephanie Ogden, inspector with ODOT, explained what is left in the contract.

“We are completing the intersection, sidewalks, and driveways, making Tahlequah pretty,” Ogden said. “The new push-button system for the intersection of [Bertha Parker] and Downing is what we are working on to get ready for Traffic Lighting Systems to do their work.”
