Roosevelt bridge repairs continue, July possible end date

MSN by Austin Hedgcoth June 12, 2025

KINGSTON, Oklahoma (KXII) - Almost a month after the Roosevelt Bridge over Lake Texoma was shut down because of a damaging storm --- traffic is still flowing just one lane at a time.

But crews are making progress, rock by rock.

“The causeway leading up to the bridge does have a lot of rock and structure and soil underneath it and that’s what deteriorated during the storms,” Mills Leslie with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation said.

The bridge itself is fine, but lots of supporting soil on the causeway washed out during last month’s storms.

That’s why crews are bringing in locally sourced rock and gravel to patch up and strengthen the causeway.

“We were able to get an emergency contract for about $5.5 million on June 2 and got the contractor rolling that night," Leslie said.
