Sec. Buttigieg, joined by USDOT leaders, mayors, and more, will celebrate major infrastructure projects funded by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
WASHINGTON – Next week, Secretary Buttigieg will go on a four-day, six-state tour, visiting Florida, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada and New Hampshire as a part of the Biden-Harris Administration's Building a Better America Tour. On the tour, he will highlight the Inflation Reduction Act, and celebrate major infrastructure projects, made possible by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, that will help grow the economy and reduce transportation costs for Americans. Additionally, USDOT leaders will travel nationwide to highlight other critical investments in American transportation infrastructure.
Morning of Tuesday, August 23rd: Tampa, Florida
Secretary Buttigieg, joined by Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg, will be at the Port of Tampa to highlight a $12 million grant to construct a new berth that will add capacity and make shipping more efficient – helping to alleviate supply chain challenges and ultimately lower costs for consumers, while creating more than 800 full-time jobs.

Afternoon of Tuesday August 23rd: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Secretary Buttigieg, joined by Deputy Secretary Polly Trottenberg, will highlight a $10 million grant to reconstruct West 51st Street, including a connection under US-75, a new pedestrian bridge over the TSU Railroad, and a new connection to the Arkansas River Trail. The project will revitalize a community that was divided by the creation of US-75, making it easier and safer for people to walk, and providing more affordable transportation options in West Tulsa.

Also in Atlanta Tuesday, Federal Transit Administration Administrator Nuria Fernandez will celebrate a $19 million grant for MARTA from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to buy up to 25 electric buses and charging equipment, and offer a worker training program to help drivers and maintenance staff learn about the new technology.
In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Under Secretary for Transportation Policy Carlos Monje Jr. will celebrate an $11 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for an urban trail through the heart of Downtown Albuquerque.
Morning of Wednesday, August 24th: Fernley, Nevada
Secretary Buttigieg, joined by Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy Carlos Monje, will highlight a $20 million grant to help complete the Nevada Pacific Parkway connection from I-80 to Highway 50 and expand capacity for dual access to Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail lines. This grant will increase supply chain efficiency, making goods more affordable for American families, and expand logistics and manufacturing capacity throughout the Northern Nevada region, allowing for job growth in the region.

Also in Memphis Wednesday, Federal Transit Administration Administrator Nuria Fernandez will celebrate $76 million in grants from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for a new operations and maintenance facility and to buy 16 electric buses.
In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Federal Highways Administration Acting Administrator Stephanie Pollack will celebrate the $6 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the Long Branch Trail Extension, which will improve safety in a known crash hotspot.
Morning of Thursday, August 25th: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Secretary Buttigieg, joined by Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy Carlos Monje, will highlight a $12 million grant to support Bus Rapid Transit on the Lake Street Corridor with new turn lanes, bus only lanes, and ADA upgrades. These improvements will improve safety, access and transit reliability along this important commercial corridor.

Afternoon of Thursday, August 25th: Sandusky, Ohio
Secretary Buttigieg will highlight a $24.5 million dollar grant to reconstruct roadways and pathways for walking and biking along a major corridor that leads to the Cedar Point amusement park, helping give safer access and sustain local jobs and grow the economy.

Also in Raleigh, North Carolina Thursday, Federal Transit Administration Administrator Nuria Fernandez will celebrate a $35 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for a new bus rapid transit line along the New Bern Avenue corridor.
In Pittsburgh, Federal Highways Administration Acting Administrator Stephanie Pollack will celebrate the $11 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for improvements to the Hill District, including reconstructed intersections, new sidewalks, and improved streets and city steps that have suffered deterioration from neglect.
Morning of Friday, August 26th: Berlin, New Hampshire
Secretary Buttigieg will be in a rural community in northern New Hampshire to highlight a $19.5 million dollar investment in the community's plan for renewal and revitalization, which will fund a snow-melt system and rehabilitation of roads, sidewalks, and parking areas in downtown Berlin.

This tour comes after the announcement of $2.25 billion in RAISE grants for all 50 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands, which was made possible by the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, as well as the passage and signature of the historic Inflation Reduction Act. Together, the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are game-changers for the American people, helping to lower costs on everything from transportation to healthcare – making life easier and more affordable for all Americans.
