OKLAHOMA CITY - Semitrucks striking Oklahoma bridges have caused millions of dollars in damage.

Now, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority wants to remind drivers how tall is too tall.

"Their actions can have an impact to the safety of others," said Lisa Shearer-Salim, the OTA spokeswoman.

While thousands of semis drive down the Turner Turnpike each day, OTA said in 2023, they saw a record number of trucks too tall hitting bridges.

"There were nine bridge hits just on the turnpike system, that’s a little more than $1.6 million in damages that the turnpike had to make repairs to keep the system safe and sound for motorists," Shearer-Salim said.
