'Still a path': State Senator working to find funding to keep Heartland Flyer running

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — Amtrak's Heartland Flyer is facing a service suspension. This comes after the Texas legislature did not approve their portion of the funding to operate it.

The Heartland Flyer served more than 80,000 customers in fiscal year 2024, according to Amtrak. The Heartland Flyer gets people up and down the I-35 corridor between Oklahoma City and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Texas and Oklahoma share the cost to run the Heartland Flyer.
