NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — Winds were gusting hard across Oklahoma on Sunday, blowing over semis, and evening breaking power poles.

“It was hard just, you know, walking straight, getting into church this morning,” said Joseph Love, a driver in Norman.

Power lines across I-35 in Norman snapped under the force of the wind and fell on the highway, forcing a major traffic jam that shut down north and southbound lanes.

Many drivers were forced onto side roads.

“It was kind of crazy,” said Love. “I was trying to figure out what they’re doing with I-35 because I couldn’t tell if it was shut down or if they were just working through us trying to see what was going on there, but obviously didn’t want to get going south.”
