The Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma has adopted ONE Transit as the organization’s new name.
First formed in 2019 as a regional, independent government agency as the RTA, ONE Transit seeks to plan, develop, fund, implement and operate transit projects serving central Oklahoma. Three cities serve as agency members — Oklahoma City, Norman and Edmond — and it is governed by a seven-member board of directors that has representation from each member city.
The name ONE is inspired by the first letter of each member city, and symbolizes unity across cities and systems. The organization has said seeks to transform central Oklahoma through opportunity and innovation, increasing travel options, attracting young professionals, building a stronger region and creating access and inclusion for all transit users.
ONE Transit’s goals include a reliable, high-capacity transit system connecting major activity centers such as Tinker Air Force Base, Will Rogers International Airport, major universities and downtown Oklahoma City that also is cost-effective and sustainable.
