Tulsa County secures $8 million FEMA grant for flood mitigation project

FOX 23 By FOX23 News Staff Jan 27, 2026

TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — Tulsa County received an $8 million FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant for a critical infrastructure project at the South Garnett Road and 101st Street Intersection.

The infrastructure project would reconstruct a mile of Garnett Road between 91st Street and 101st Street and raise the 101st Street intersection by roughly five feet to help with long-term flood prevention.

This $12 million project will take an estimated nine months, in which the road will be closed during construction.

"This project represents a long-term investment in safety, resilience, and mobility for South Tulsa County," said Commissioner Kelly Dunkerley. "Flooding at this intersection has been a recurring issue for years. Securing this grant took persistence, collaboration, and a commitment to doing what's right for the people who depend on this roadway every day."
