A $72 million Oklahoma Turnpike Authority project to fix a roller coaster stretch of the Creek Turnpike over Haikey Creek isn’t the first time the OTA has been confronted with repair of a bouncing stretch of highway. The OTA has known about the problem since 2012 and is also the second such major repair to a known flaw.
The OTA plans to begin work on the Haikey Creek stretch in October after motorists contended the turnpike was not only like riding a roller coaster but also dangerous. The users of the turnpike called it the Rollercoaster Highway.
