Walker Ave. construction begins amid NW 23rd road work

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — If you’ve driven on 23rd Street in Uptown, you may have noticed a lot of traffic as construction goes on. Now, Walker Avenue between Northwest 23rd and Northwest 32nd is getting a makeover.

Road resurfacing, new sidewalks, landscaping, and streetlights.

It’s all part of the city’s plans with the “Better Streets, Safer City” sales tax program from 2017.

“This is one of the last projects for that sales tax program that was kind of a continuation of that MAPS 3 penny sales tax,” said Shannon Cox, the Public Works PIO for Oklahoma City.
