The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said they plan to use $72 million in toll money to fix the area that's become known as "Roller Coaster Bridge."
TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said they plan to use $72 million in toll money to fix the area that's become known as "Roller Coaster Bridge."
Roller Coaster Bridge is the Creek Turnpike that takes you from south Tulsa to Broken Arrow and crosses over Haikey Creek.
A decade ago, the Turnpike Authority told me they would not be fixing the bridge. Now, they are.
On a cold February day in 2015, I took a ride with Tulsa resident Randy Smith who drove on the bridge every day to get to work.
It's become infamous for how it's built—with a bounce. It's why the bridge has the nickname Roller Coaster Bridge.
