The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will begin construction for the new interchange located at State Highway 7 and Elk Avenue Sept. 2.

District VII Duncan Resident Engineer Bryce Lawson, P.E. said the over $19 million project will take around 300 days to complete.

Lawson said crews will construct an overpass on State Highway 7, also known as the Duncan Bypass, to move traffic up and over Elk Avenue. He said the intersection will resemble State Highway 7 over Beech Avenue once the construction is complete.

Lawson said the contract for the project totals $19,855,910.12. Overland Corporation, of Ardmore, will serve as the contractor.
