A 2028 project to reconstruct a four-mile stretch of Slaughterville’s 72nd Street may be delayed to access federal funding.
Allison Enright from Circuit Engineering District 5 shared the update at Monday’s Cleveland County Board of Commissioners meeting. Enright and the rest of the engineering district lead the county’s projects in a statewide roadway improvement plan.
In cooperation with county commissioners across the state, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation has developed a County Improvements for Road and Bridges 5-Year Construction Work Plan to rehabilitate 176 off-system bridges and improve 408 miles of county roads.
“The CIRB program was created in 2006 by House Bill 1176 and has proven to be a valuable program to the state of Oklahoma and its 77 counties,” ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz wrote in the plan, adding it “has made significant strides in helping counties improve the condition and safety of the county highway system for all Oklahomans.”
