Hubbard Road bridge construction continues

Work on the Hubbard Road Bridge over the Chikaskia River near Blackwell continues. The bridge was irreparably damaged by flooding in 2019. (see story)

In 2024, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation approved the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges Plan for the fiscal years 2025 through 2029. (see story)

The $11 million project to replace the bridge was one of seven bridge projects in northern Oklahoma and the project is a partnership between Kay County, the Federal Highway Administration and ODOT. The project is in Kay County Commissioner Shane Jones’ District.
