A much-needed upgrade to ease traffic congestion just east of Yukon is due to start next spring on State Highway 66 at the Grant Boulevard intersection.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has hired a contractor for the 120 calendar-day project, which is in Oklahoma City limits near the Kilpatrick Turnpike (US-344) on- and off-ramps.

Redlands Contracting LLC was awarded its $1,122,157.05 bid, the lowest among seven contractors submitting proposals opened Sept. 11 at ODOT headquarters. Engineer’s cost estimate was $1,202,247.31.

“This project will add left-hand turn bays onto Grant Boulevard and a full signal at this intersection as well as a pedestrian crossing,” ODOT spokeswoman Kalie Eldridge said.

Project length is 0.275 miles.
